Fiberglass stop gates are used for temporary storage and control of water in flow channels at water and wastewater treatment plants. Glass-Steel®, Inc. custom fabricates stop gates to meet the requirements of each application.

Yes. Glass-Steel®, Inc. fabricates fiberglass stop gates with dimensions and reinforcement designed according to the loading, flow-control and installation requirements of the particular application.

What materials are used in fiberglass stop gates?

For most water and wastewater applications, Glass-Steel®, Inc. uses isophthalic polyester resin for the main body and core reinforcement. Guide frames are typically fabricated from fiberglass pultruded structural members.

How are fiberglass stop gates sealed?

Stop gate systems utilize neoprene J-bulb seals along the guide frame and a bottom J-bulb seal attached to the stop gate for sealing at the floor.

What guide-frame options are available?

Fiberglass stop gates can be furnished with wall-mounted or embedded guide frames. Guide frames are usually fiberglass pultruded structural members, with aluminum or stainless steel available upon request.

How are fiberglass stop gates reinforced?

Stop gates can incorporate an integral thickened boss area or structural reinforcing members to achieve the load and deflection criteria required for the particular application.

Glass-Steel®, Inc. stop gate systems utilize guide frames designed to support and properly align the gate during operation. Guide frames can be configured for surface-mounted or embedded installations depending on project requirements.

Neoprene J-bulb seals are located along the sides of the gate, with a bottom J-bulb seal providing sealing at the floor. Guide configuration, mounting hardware and installation details are determined according to the channel dimensions, operating requirements and specific application.
